Minimum Wage Rises For SJ Workers To $15/Hour This Year

The pay raises will be adjusted each year according to the CPI, with a maximum set at 5 percent.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Workers at organizations in San Jose got a pay raise New Year's Day when the city's minimum wage went up, city officials said.

The minimum wage in San Jose has gone up to $15 per hour Tuesday. Each year now, the minimum wage in the city will be adjusted for the cost-of-living, which will be based on the Consumer Price Index, with annual increases limited to a maximum of 5 percent.

"Our efforts to raise the minimum wage will provide a significant boost for the thousands of hard-working families across the valley who continue to struggle to keep up with rising costs," San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said in a statement.
