Olympic Gold Medalist, Gymnast To Address Sex Abuse At Symposium
Olympic gymnast Jordyn Wieber wants to use her survivor experience to help and teach others about the pervasive societal problem.
CAMPBELL, CA -- U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Jordyn Wieber will serve as the keynote speaker at for a child abuse symposium in the South Bay on Friday.
The gymnast, one of the sexual abuse victims of former U.S. National Gymnastics Dr. Larry
Nassar, will address attendees of the Child Abuse Prevention Council Symposium located at Villa Ragusa in Campbell.
“I was silent for years. I hope symposiums like these will lead to a day when survivors can speak out and be heard. I want to make sure abusers are held accountable and victims find the power that I know is in them.”

Also speaking at the event will be Victor Vieth, a former prosecutor who directs the Education
Research Project in St. Paul, Minn. He will be talking about recognizing and preventing
institutional child sexual abuse in such places as sports organizations, churches and schools.
Every year, the Santa Clara County Child Abuse Council honors survivors and workers with awards. County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg will make a proclamation on behalf of the
Board of Supervisors.
