Pedestrian Killed In Hit-and-run In San Jose Identified

The 52-year-old woman was crossing the street near the intersection of Briarwood Drive and Curtner Avenue last Friday.

SAN JOSE, CA - A pedestrian who was hit and killed in San Jose last Friday has been identified as 52-year-old Antonia Montez, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Montez, a San Jose resident, was crossing the street at 6:53 p.m. near the intersection of Curtner Avenue and Briarwood Drive when she was hit by a woman driving an SUV. She was crossing the street from the south side of Curtner Avenue to the north side when she was hit by the 1998 Ford Explorer, according to police.

Police said she is the 36th victim in 34 fatal collisions on San Jose city streets this year, and the 15th pedestrian to die after being hit by a vehicle.
