Police Say Campbell Home Invasion Probably Targeted Pot Grow

Campbell Police say a recent Campbell home invasion was likely not a random criminal act.

CAMPBELL - Marijuana plants being cultivated inside a Campbell home were likely the target of a home invasion reported to Campbell Police early Thursday morning.

Officers say they responded to a call from a resident on Elwood Drive about 2:40 a.m, alleging several men had broken into the home through a rear window while the residents were inside.

In an Internet posting, the Campbell Police Department said it "does NOT believe that this robbery was a random occurrence."

Campbell Police Captain Gary Berg states, “It appears that the residence was specifically targeted due to the cultivation of marijuana inside the home.”

Police say the suspects were masked and armed with weapons. The only suspect descriptions given list the suspects as adult males. No vehicles were seen or heard.
