Prowler Suspect Arrested, Accused Of Peeping On Child: Police

After many tips provided by the community, Campbell Police identified a San Jose man as the one accused of peeping into a juvenile's room.

CAMPBELL, CA — Officers arrested a San Jose man on suspicion of prowling and peeping into a juvenile's bedroom window a week and a half ago, the police department reported Thursday.

Since then, Campbell Police said it received an outpouring of support and engagement from the community after it announced the 1:20 a.m. and released surveillance footage of the sinister-looking video shown here. In the video, a male suspect is seen peeking in the window of a home on Bismarck Drive in Campbell. The bedroom was occupied by a juvenile, and the suspect fled after being confronted by the father.

He was last seen running on Phoenix Drive towards Hamilton Avenue. Surveillance video showed the suspect approaching the bedroom window, looking inside, and repositioning himself to get a better view.

After following up on multiple tips from the community, Campbell Police detectives alleged they identified Michael Edward Brothers, 58, as the person in the surveillance video. Brothers was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on a $100,000 warrant for peeping and prowling and possession of stolen property.

Detectives discovered Brothers has prior convictions for peeping and prowling. They are also looking into a possible lewd and lascivious act with a child under 10 years old involving Brothers that occurred last year, police said. Based on a criminal history and information received during this investigation, police expressed concerns that Brothers may have committed other similar crimes.
