Roku Launches New Streaming Service With No Ads For $2.99 Per Month
Called Howdy, its offerings include "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Weeds."

SAN JOSE, CA — San Jose-based streaming platform Roku on Tuesday announced the launch of Howdy, a new ad-free video subscription service, for $2.99 per month.
Howdy offers subscribers unlimited access to nearly 10,000 hours of content from partners Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery and FilmRise, along with certain Roku Original titles. Offerings include movies like “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “The Blind Side” as well as television shows such as “Weeds” and “Kids in the Hall.”
“Priced at less than a cup of coffee, Howdy is ad-free and designed to complement, not compete with, premium services,” Roku Founder and CEO Anthony Wood said in a news release. “Howdy is a natural step for us at Roku, extending our mission to make better TV for everyone, by making it affordable, accessible, and built for how people watch today.”
