SJ Fatal Victim Identified, Another Arrested In Hit-and-run Crash
The man is accused of fatally striking a cyclist, then driving away, police said.
SAN JOSE, CA — A 62-year-old San Jose man was identified as the victim in a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a cyclist hit by a man arrested and accused of gross vehicular manslaughter, the Santa Clara County Coroner reported.
San Jose police officers responded to a traffic collision at 12:47 p.m. between a vehicle and a bicyclist on Curtner Avenue at Briarwood Drive in San Jose. Arriving officers located the bicyclist lying in the roadway. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed the adult male victim was riding a bike on Curtner Avenue, when a white Ford traveling westbound on Curtner Avenue struck the victim. The vehicle fled the scene without stopping, according to the report.

Patrol officers conducted follow-up search and were able to identify the driver and involved vehicle. The driver identified as 35 year-old Anthony Trusso was located along with the vehicle at his residence in San Jose. The suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after next of kin is notified. This is the city’s 24th fatal crash victim of 2019.
