Santa Clara Sups To Decide On Reid-Hillview Airport Grants
The Santa Clara Board of Supervisors will vote today on approving grant funding to maintain the airport on Cunningham Avenue.

SAN JOSE, CA -- The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday to
either accept grant funding for the 80-year-old Reid-Hillview Airport or leave it vulnerable to closure, the county reported.
According to county officials, a "yes" vote will keep the airport open for another 20 years through Federal Aviation Administration grants, while a "no" vote will allow a future board to close the airport permanently.
FAA rules currently require the airport to stay open for another 12 years, according to the county, so officials will not immediately begin discussing the area's reuse if supervisors vote "no." Supervisors will also have the option of not accepting the grant and consolidating the airport's services with San Martin Airport, according to county officials.
