South Bay Cop, K-9 Unit Capture Prestigious Honor
A Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputy and his K-9 unit received a commendation from the United States Secret Service.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A South Bay cop and his K-9 unit were recently honored by the United States Secret Service.
Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tanaka and “Yoshi” were honored for their service on a recent Bay Area security detail, the agency said on its Facebook page.

“Congrats and great work to Deputy Tanaka and K9 Yoshi! ,” the agency said.
Yoshi specializes in explosives and bomb detection, the Sheriff’s Office said in a 2019 Facebook post describing the start of her shift.

“Yoshi is currently assigned to our Valley Transportation Authority Patrol Division and loves belly rubs and tennis balls,” the 2019 post said.
