South Bay Pedestrian Hit-And-Run Victim Dies 2 Months After Crash

The victim of the July 30 crash was hospitalized with major injuries and later moved to a recovery center, where he died from his injuries.

SAN JOSÉ, CA — A South Bay hit-and-run victim died Friday from injuries suffered in the late-July crash, San José police said.

The suspect, an adult male who was driving a 2020 Dodge truck, remains at large, according to police.

Officers at around 4:20 p.m. July 30 responded to the 400 block of Auzerais Avenue on the report of a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.

Officers determined the suspect was driving westbound on Auzerais Avenue when he lost control of the truck and crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle, police said.

The force of the collision pushed the parked vehicle onto the sidewalk, striking the pedestrian and a tree, police said.

The suspect fled on foot and was not located, police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with major injuries and later moved to a recovery center, where he died from his injuries.

The investigation into San Jose’s 51st fatal collision and 53rd traffic death of this year is ongoing, police said. This also the 27th pedestrian fatality of the year.
