The 3-year-old boy jumped out of his mother's parked car when she went into a business. A truck struck him, and he later died, police said.
SAN JOSE, CA — A 3-year-old boy died Saturday after he was struck and injured by a vehicle then transported to two hospitals upon stepping out of the mother's parked car at a San Jose business, police reported.
He has been identified as Alexanders Bedolla of San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
Officers responded at 10:07 a.m. to San Jose's Regional Medical Center to piece together a preliminary investigation revealing the child had arrived with his mother at a business located on the southwest corner at So. 24th and East Santa Clara streets in San Jose. The mother was walking into the business when the child jumped out of the parked car, police said. A 2012 Nissan pick-up truck, driven by an adult male, was traveling through the lot when he struck the child. According to the report, the driver immediately stopped and transported the child and his mother to the local hospital.
