• Judge grants access to LASD files in Castaic shooting (signalscv.com) — A court has granted limited additional access to personnel records for the deputy involved in last year’s armed domestic violence standoff in Castaic, where a suspect was shot after allegedly pointing a gun. Defense attorneys are seeking more information from the deputy’s file through a Pitchess motion, with the next court hearing set for Jan. 21.
   

• State says Castaic oil cleanup to continue in January (signalscv.com) — State officials say cleanup of an oil spill near the Santa Clara River, a few miles from Chiquita Canyon Landfill by Castaic, will likely continue into January. Crews have clamped the corroded line, shut down nearby wells, and report no observed direct impacts to wildlife so far while they finish quantifying the spill.
   

• Young Marines commemorate Pearl Harbor anniversary (signalscv.com) — Young Marines based in Castaic joined fellow youth from Quartz Hill and Antelope Valley on a special trip to Hawaii marking the 84th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Local participants helped lead the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade, took part in wreath-laying and service projects, and deepened their understanding of World War II history and military service.
