Kittens, Computers and the Corporatization of Food

Here's a handful of things to keep in mind for today.
- The Westwood Library hosts a Computer Comfort class at 4:30 p.m. This beginners' class will cover some tips and tricks for computer use at home and the library. The Westwood branch is located at 1246 Glendon Ave.
- Best Friends Animal Society is focusing on finding foster families and potential owners for kittens through a No Kill Los Angeles, or NKLA, initiative. Find detailed information about the initiative including ways you might be able to help in this Patch board post.
- Adrienne Maloof of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame will make an appearance at Bloomingdale's at 11 a.m. today. Maloof will be in town promoting an earring collection. Bloomingdale's is located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd.
- Next week: The UCLA Hammer Museum hosts a free forum on the corporatization and commodification of food. Frederick Kaufman, author of Bet The Farm: How Food Stopped Being Food, and Wenonah Hauter, author ofFoodopoly: The Battle Over the Future of Food and Farming in America and executive director of Food and Water Watch, look into the agribusiness monopolies that are determining what we eat and how much it costs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. The museum is at 10899 Wilshire Blvd.
