Tanks Crash Stalls 405 Morning Traffic

By City News Service

A crash involving a tanker truck and a car on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in West Los Angeles today resulted in a spill of about 700 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway and the closure of some lanes and onramps in the area, officials said.

The crash was reported about 5:40 a.m. near Montana Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada. No injuries were reported, Posada said.

Traffic was snarled while crews worked to clear the scene. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

Three northbound lanes were blocked, as were the onramps from Santa
Monica and Wilshire boulevards. One northbound lane was reopened after about
two hours.
