Wilshire Onramp to Close for 90 Days Beginning Tonight
The eastbound Wilshire onramp will be demolished and replaced over the 90-day period.
The eastbound Wilshire Boulevard onramp to the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway will close for 90 days beginning tonight, the final extended ramp closure required for the reconstruction of the interchange.
According to Metro, which is overseeing the 405 Freeway construction project through the Sepulveda Pass, the existing ramp will be demolished and replaced with one that will have three times more capacity. The new ramp will be 3,129 feet long, compared to the existing 824-foot ramp in hopes of reducing a backlog that traditionally develops at the interchange.
The onramp will close at 10 p.m., according to Dave Sotero of Metro.
Motorists were advised to plan ahead and seek out alternate routes, including the northbound onramp at Santa Monica Boulevard. That ramp has been recently widened to handle additional capacity.

Traffic control officers will be deployed at the Wilshire interchange during peak hours to direct motorists.
