Mediterranean Buffet-Style Restaurant Plans 1st CA Locale In Cerritos

Texas-based Dimassi's, serving tabouli, hummus, grape leaves, kabobs & more, will open in former Mimi's Cafe site at Cerritos Towne Center.

CERRITOS, CA — Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet, with multiple locations throughout Texas specializing in Mediterranean and Halal cuisine, will open its first California restaurant in May at the Cerritos Towne Center in Cerritos.

The new eatery is moving into the former Mimi's Cafe site, across from TGI Fridays, on Towne Center Drive, according to management.

Dimassi’s offers catering options and individual to-go meals, along with its lunch and dinner buffets with such selections as spinach pie, falafel, tabouli, Greek salad, grape leaves, hummus and baba ghanouge (eggplant) dips, soups, rice dishes, chicken and beef kabobs, roasted lamb, baked and fried white fish, plus desserts including baklava, jam cookies and rice pudding.

Family-owned and operated Dimassi’s first opened in 1992 in Texas with a goal of introducing the state to "authentic, delicious and healthy Halal and Mediterranean food," according to the owners. The business now runs restaurants throughout Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston McAllen and San Antonio.

Prices and hours are not yet announced for the Cerritos location. In Texas, the company's buffet prices run from $15.69 per person for lunch, $16.62 for dinner, $19.39 for Friday evening and weekend buffets, $8.99 for kids and $8.99 per pound for individual takeout orders.
