Selfie Stick Causes Ride at Disney California Adventure to Shut Down for 2 Hours

Disney banned selfie sticks at its theme parks last year for safety reasons.

ANAHEIM, CA - Disney is serious about its selfie-stick ban at its theme parks. A rider's selfie stick prompted operators to halt the California Screamin' roller coaster at Disney California Adventure for two hours Monday.

The ride was stopped about 5:10 p.m. and was shut down for around two hours after a male rider pulled out the banned item, a Disney representative told The Orange County Register.

"That's just normal procedure," spokeswoman Suzie Brown told the newspaper.

"The use of selfie sticks also compromises our ability to deliver on The Four Keys Basics: Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency,” Disney said in a statement last year.
