Amid West Nile Fears, Officials Will Spray for Mosquitoes Monday & Tuesday
The spraying will be done at night in two Citrus Heights parks.
Officials will spray for mosquitoes at two Citrus Heights parks this week, amid concerns the bugs may carry West Nile Virus.
The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District says 96 mosquito samples in Sacramento County, and one human, have tested positive for the virus this year.
The spraying, scheduled from 8 p.m. to midnight Monday and Tuesday, will be "ultra-low volume" backpack spraying in San Juan Park, on Madison Avenue near San Juan Avenue at the Citrus Heights and Fair Oaks border, as well as C-Bar-C Park on Oak Avenue.

As part of the District’s Integrated Pest Management program and Mosquito-Borne Disease Management Plan, the District will administer Ultra Low Volume (ULV) treatments by using ground and/or aerial equipment in and around areas where mosquito counts and virus activity have met treatment criteria.
The products applied by the District are designed to quickly reduce adult mosquito populations and to protect public health and welfare. All products are registered and evaluated by the California Environmental Protection Agency.
