• City seeks bids for frontage improvement project around Sunrise Mall (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Citrus Heights is seeking engineering firms to design major frontage upgrades around Sunrise Mall along Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane, including a new transit center and multi-use path. Funded initially through a regional grant, the project targets construction in summer 2029, with proposals due Feb. 5, 2026 and City Council contract review expected in March.
   

• Annual winter shelter for Citrus Heights homeless to begin in January (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Starting January 4, Citrus Heights HART will again offer its rotating Winter Sanctuary, providing nightly shelter, meals, and basic services for unhoused adults through February 21. Guests must check in each evening at Messiah Lutheran Church, while six area congregations share hosting duties. Organizers say they especially need late-night and overnight volunteers from the community.
   

• 2025 Best Lights in Citrus Heights contest winners announced (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Citrus Heights has crowned its 2025 Best Lights winners, with two homes on Karen Rae Court taking top honors in the Santa’s Favorite and Snow Globe categories. Displays on Peoria Drive and Creekcrest Circle also earned awards for standout themes and neighborhood spirit. Residents can browse a photo gallery and interactive map of all nominated homes on the city’s website.
