The wreck took place Tuesday morning in Citrus Heights on westbound I-80 east of Antelope Road in slow moving traffic.

The California Highway Patrol officer who struck a disabled car early Tuesday morning in Citrus Heights faces "major injuries," according to a CHP report.
Officer Andy Beasley is recovering at Mercy San Juan Hospital with multiple fractures, minor abrasions and a concussion after he struck a Fair Oaks woman's red 2007 Toyota Corolla that had been rear-ended just moments earlier.
According to the CHP report, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Debra Andes, a 53-year-old from Grass Valley, was driving her car in the number-two lane on westbound Interstate 80 when she turned to look over her right shoulder while attempting to make a lane change. It was in those moments that Fair Oaks native Jessica Brown, 50, was forced to come to an immediate stop in front of Andes. When Andes looked forward again she observed that traffic ahead of her was stopped, but was unable to stop her vehicle in time.
