DOMA Struck Down: Citrus Heights Reacts

Same-sex marriage ban is ruled unconstitutional. What's your reaction?

Reactions flood social media as Californians respond to news that the U.S. Supreme Court struck down DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, in a 5-4 vote in a decision Wednesday morning.

The act had prohibited the U.S. government from recognizing same-sex marriage.

When we asked Citrus Heights Patch Facebook followers if the court got it right, we heard a mix of reactions.

"About time we move forward!!!," one reader wrote.

Another reader had quite a different reaction: "Taking away the vote of the majority of Californian's is moving forward? I don't care what the subject matter is, the fact that the democratic process of majority vote has once again been obliterated in California is what is truly unconstitutional. ... This country is in big trouble."
