• 1 person injured, dogs killed in Citrus Heights house fire (kcra.com) — A Citrus Heights family was displaced Wednesday evening after a garage fire on Longden Circle spread into their home, sending one person to the hospital with minor injuries. Smoke alarms alerted the family in time to escape, but three of their eight dogs died and another is still unaccounted for as investigators work to determine the cause. 
• SacRT Announces January Service Adjustments to Improve On-Time Performance (egcitizen.com) — Bus riders in Citrus Heights should prepare for Sacramento Regional Transit schedule changes taking effect Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, on several routes that connect across the region. SacRT is adding a few minutes to select trips and shifting some departure times to improve on-time performance and better maintain transfers with light rail and other buses.
