Claremont Boy Pleads Not Guilty in Sister's Stabbing Death
The teenage boy was apprehended with the alleged murder weapon in his possession as he walked away from the residence, police said.

CLAREMONT, CA - A 14-year-old Claremont boy who allegedly stabbed his older sister to death pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a murder charge.
Nathaniel Douglas Geurts is charged with killing 15-year-old Aspen Geurts, who died at the scene last Nov. 4. The Nov. 4 attack occurred while the two were alone at a residence in the 300 block of Andover Drive, according to police.
The teenage boy was apprehended with the alleged murder weapon -- a knife -- in his possession as he walked away from the residence, Claremont police Detective Lt. Mike Ciszek said last year.

The boy was "calm and cooperative with officers during the investigation," Ciszek said.
Police officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics went to the scene as the result of a cell phone call made to the California Highway Patrol at 5:07 p.m., Ciszek said.

Authorities have not disclosed who made the emergency call about the first homicide in Claremont since October 2009, nor provided a motive.
