CLAREMONT, CA — Claremont dog owners who frequent Pooch Park will have to take their four-legged friend elsewhere beginning Monday as the park will be closed for maintenance.

The park will be closed until Dec. 1 for its “biannual turf maintenance and resting period,” city officials said. The park’s turf will be aerated, flush of dog urine and have invasive weeds removed.

A resting period will follow after the maintenance work before it can be reopened to the public.

“These routine maintenance activities allow for the turf to remain healthy and vibrant during the warmer months,” Claremont officials said in a statement.

Other pet-friendly local parks residents can go to during the closure include Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, Thompson Creek Trail and Rancho San Jose Park.
