• Coalinga wants someone new for its empty council seat (yourcentralvalley.com) — Coalinga is looking for a new District 5 councilmember, and local residents who qualify are invited to apply by December 30 at the City Clerk’s Office. Applicants must live in District 5, be registered to vote in Coalinga, provide residency documents, and speak at a special council meeting on January 8, 2026, before someone is appointed.
   

• Update: Earthquake struck region near Coalinga, CA on Nov. 29 - 2.4 magnitude detected (sacbee.com) — A minor 2.4 magnitude earthquake shook an area about seven miles north of Coalinga on Saturday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. While damage is unlikely, residents are encouraged to report what they felt and review basic earthquake safety steps like drop, cover, and hold on to prepare for future tremors.
