1 Teen Dead, Another Arrested In Contra Costa Shooting, Police Say

A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot; detectives were working to determine whether it was an intentional act.

PITTSBURG, CA — One 15-year-old boy died and another 15-year-old was in custody in a shooting Thursday in Pittsburg, police said.

Officers responded at 3 p.m. Thursday to a residence in the 4000 block of Suzanne Drive after several callers reported someone had been shot, according to a news release issued Friday by the Pittsburg Police Department.

Officers arrived and found that a 15-year-old boy had been shot. The officers rendered first aid until paramedics arrived.

"He was transported to a local hospital, and unfortunately did not survive," police said.

Detectives interviewed numerous witnesses in an attempt to determine what happened.

"Through the investigation, a 15-year-old juvenile was found to be responsible for the shooting," police said. "He was arrested and booked on [an] involuntary manslaughter charge and transported to Juvenile Hall."

Police did not release the names of the two boys.

Friday morning, detectives were still following up with witnesses to determine a reason for the shooting and whether it was an intentional act.
