2 Arrested In Contra Costa Co. Death Investigation

BREAKING: Sheriff's officials announced arrests Friday in connection with the death of a San Francisco woman whose body was found in Byron.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Two suspects have been arrested in the death of a woman whose body was found in August in a rural area in Byron, sheriff's officials said Friday. On Tuesday detectives arrested 44-year-old Antioch resident Ser Estrada in Pittsburg. A second suspect, 60-year-old San Francisco resident Rodoldo Manalo, was arrested this morning in Daly City, according to sheriff's officials.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of murder and are each being held on $1 million bail, sheriff's officials said.

The pair is suspected of killing 49-year-old San Francisco resident Aleli Avila, whose body was found at about 3:50 p.m. on Aug. 22 in the 500 block of Camino Diablo.

Not long after her body was discovered, the "Justice For Aleli Avila" campaign was set up through GoFundMe.com to raise reward money for the investigation into her death. Friday, the page stated that an anonymous donor contributed $5,000.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the slaying, including determining a motive. Sheriff's officials did no disclose how Avila died.
