Coroner Identifies Pregnant Woman Killed In Concord Hwy 4 Crash

BREAKING: The Bay Point woman was the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe that collided Tuesday with a Honda Pilot.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A pregnant woman who died in a crash on state Highway 4 in Concord
on Tuesday has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 20-year-old Bay Point resident Bianca Mejia Chavez. The crash happened around 5:40 p.m. on westbound Highway 4 near Port Chicago Highway and involved a Chevrolet Tahoe that collided with a Honda Pilot, then hit the center guardrail and flipped twice, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Mejia Chavez was driving the Tahoe and was thrown completely out of the vehicle, while a 29-year-old Oakley man who was a passenger was partially ejected, CHP officials said.

They were both taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where Mejia Chavez died later Tuesday. The passenger is expected to survive. Neither were wearing a seat belt, CHP officials said.

A 37-year-old Hercules woman driving the Pilot wasn't hurt, according to the CHP.

Witnesses said the Tahoe was speeding and made an unsafe turning movement before colliding with the Pilot, CHP officials said.
