Fatality Reported In Crash On Highway 4 In Pittsburg

The collision resulted in the closure of all eastbound lanes near Bailey Road.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A fatality was reported in a crash Friday night on state Highway 4 in Pittsburg.

The collision happened at 8:16 p.m. on eastbound SR-4 just west of Bailey Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A sig alert was issued at 8:51 p.m. for eastbound Highway 4 at Bailey Road, where all lanes were closed. At 9:30 p.m., authorities called for a "hard closure" of eastbound Highway 4 from San Marcos Boulevard to the freeway ramp at Bailey Road, with the estimated time for reopening the roadway not known.

A brown Volkswagen bus was possibly involved in the crash. The other vehicle or vehicles were not described.
