Injured Mama Duck And Babies Rescued By Concord Police, Local Veterinarian

Police described the incident as "a quack-tical rescue," coming to the bird's aid after she was hit by a vehicle.

CONCORD, CA — In what law enforcement described as “a quack-tical rescue,” Concord police recently came to the aid of a mother duck and her ducklings after she was struck by a vehicle.

Officers received a report of the incident and arrived to find the mother duck alive, with her ducklings by her side.

“With a brief lull in calls for service, our officers stood guard to protect the little family until help could arrive,” the police department said Sunday in a Facebook post.

Dr. Olivia Winson of Maverick Veterinary Surgery Service came to collect the ducks and help them find their way to a wildlife organization to receive care.

“A big thank you to Dr. Winson and her team for their compassion and quick action, and to our officers for protecting these feathered residents until help arrived,” the department said.
