Truck Slams Into Tree on Clayton Road and Alberta Way
The driver was taken away by ambulance, but the injuries are minor.
A man was injured Wednesday afternoon after the Toyota truck he was driving struck a tree near the intersection of Clayton Road and Alberta Way at about 1:45 p.m., according to a witness.
It took Concord firefighters about 15 minutes to get the driver out of the truck. He was conscious and smiling as he was rolled away on a stretcher and into an ambulance. Concord police officer Daryl Graham said the injuries were minor.
Andrew Waibel said he works with the man at Certified Tire Goodyear in Concord.

"(Steve) went out to lunch and someone said there was an accident and we came out here and it was him," Waibel said.
Hamid Jahid, 21, said he was walking west on Clayton Road when the truck, going east, spun out of control on the wet road and hit the tree.

"I tried to open the door to help, but I cut my hand," Jahid said through a translator.
At least five Concord police cars, a Concord fire truck and an ambulance responded to the crash.
