Update: A Whole Lotta Shaking – Did You Feel The Earthquake?

USGS reported a couple of mild earthquakes Monday morning near Anza in Riverside County.

Update 12:05 p.m. Monday with SDG&E's reaction and new magnitude.

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake shook Southern California at 9:55 Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

One local reported on Twitter that he “didn't feel a thing,” while another said she felt a “brief jolt,” with “house swaying, TV shaking.”

Investor Howard Lindzon, who has a huge Twitter following, dryly connected the earthquake with the market: “Little earthquake on Coronado...anyone else...desk shook and I could swear $GOOG ticked down ...”

Coronado officials took the opportunity via Twitter to remind people to check on their emergency preparedness on the city's website.

The USGS said the quake was centered 12 miles east of Anza, which sits near Palm Desert. It was initially reported as a 5.2. A 3.0 quake was reported in La Quinta minutes later.

SDG&E said on Twitter that there were no reports of system damage or outages as a result of the quake.

San Diego County residents reported hearing a rumbling and feeling shaking around 10 a.m. People from Alpine to Hillcrest said on social media that their pets were spooked by the rattle. One East County resident said a picture fell off their entertainment system.
