1 Killed, 1 Injured In 2-Vehicle Crash In North County

SAN MARCOS, CA — A woman was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in northern San Diego County, authorities said.

A fatal crash involving a gray Honda CR-V and a white Nissan Sentra was reported around 3 p.m. Tuesday in the San Elijo community of San Marcos, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

A woman was driving the Nissan westbound on San Elijo Road when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the center median, entered oncoming traffic, and collided with the Honda, according to a preliminary investigation.

The woman driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Jeremy Collis said. The woman driving the Honda was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

The cause of the collision was under investigation.
