Junior George Wiley Dies at 88; WWII Fighter Pilot Founded Investment Firm
He was praised for his "honesty, openness, good nature, plain talk and common sense."

Junior George Wiley—a World War II fighter pilot and co-founder of investment management firm Hotchkis & Wiley—died May 31 in Coronado, surrounded by his family, according to a U-T San Diego obituary.
He was 88.
“George had a passion for playing golf and cards with his buddies and traveling with Diane [Williams, his second wife],” the obituary said. “He was famous for his many stories and sayings that are well remembered by his children and grandchildren. Praised by a colleague for his ‘honesty, openness, good nature, plain talk and common sense,’ he had a wide circle of friends from each stage of his life.”

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at in Coronado with a reception to follow at his home.
