• San Diego's 28 most anticipated new restaurants of 2026 (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Two major restaurant projects are headed to Coronado in 2026, including three new concepts inside the upcoming Baby Grand Crown City hotel across from the Hotel del and a large Social Syndicate-run restaurant at the Ferry Landing. Both aim to open next year, adding upscale Greek, seafood, champagne-and-oyster, omakase, and casual waterfront dining options, alongside dozens of other new eateries opening around greater San Diego.
   

• Avenue of Heroes: Louis E. Burke Jr. (coronadotimes.com) — Coronado’s Avenue of Heroes program is honoring Navy Captain Louis E. “Lou” Burke Jr., a longtime resident who retired to First and G and later earned a banner along State Route 282. The story also traces how Coronado formalized Third and Fourth streets as the Avenue of Heroes, celebrating the city’s deep military roots and the residents who championed this tribute.
   

• Hike of the week: Spot coastal birds and dolphins in the San Diego Bay at Harbor Island Park (sandiegouniontribune.com) — If you love watching the San Diego–Coronado Bridge and Coronado’s shoreline from a distance, Harbor Island Park offers an easy bayside walk with those views front and center. A local writer describes a 2.5-mile out-and-back route past benches, wildlife signs, coastal birds, and even dolphins, all just minutes from the airport yet surprisingly peaceful.
