Poll: Will San Diego Join New Orleans as Having No Daily Newspaper?
Times-Picayune's Pulitzers for Katrina couldn't save it from change to 3-days-a-week paper.

New Orleans this fall will be the first major American city not to have a daily newspaper. The announcement about the Pulitzer-winning Times-Picayune shifting to three days a week stunned the industry, and it was followed by news that three sister newspapers in Alabama will do the same. Media consultant Ken Doctor told the New York Times: “Everyone knows that print editions are going the way of the steam engine, but I question whether they have the readiness to make this switch in such a hurry.” In San Diego County, small dailies folded years ago, including ones in El Cajon and Vista. The Escondido paper merged with one in Oceanside. What’s next for San Diego?
