Robotic Submarine Competition Draws International Crowd [Photos]

The 16th Annual RoboSub Competition was held at SPAWAR's Transducer Evaluation Center's Anechoic Pool in San Diego. Teams from across America and 10 different countries took part.

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International and the Office of Naval Research hosted the 16th Annual RoboSub Competition at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in San Diego July 22-28.

Near 30 teams came to compete from across the United States but also from Canada, India, China, Russia, Israel and parts of Europe.

More than $20,000 in prize money was doled out to teams whose autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) performed the best in obstacle courses and challenges.
