• Newport Beach to withdraw from its beds at Costa Mesa's homeless bridge shelter (latimes.com subscription) — Costa Mesa’s homeless bridge shelter will lose Newport Beach’s long-term financial support and dedicated beds as that city phases out its 25-bed allocation by 2027. Costa Mesa’s council has already approved amended agreements, is absorbing some cost increases, and is courting another nearby city to take over unused beds so local shelter capacity and funding remain stable for residents in need. 
• Longtime appliance retailer closes stores, files for bankruptcy (silive.com) — A major Southern California appliance chain has abruptly closed all 17 stores and filed for Chapter 11, leaving many recent customers anxious about pending orders. A Costa Mesa-based attorney speaking for the company cited tariffs, weaker consumer spending, and broader economic pressures as reasons for the shutdown, which also surprised employees with only a day’s notice.
• Over $20K worth of drugs seized at a north Orange County traffic stop (newsantaana.com) — A recent North Patrol traffic stop in north Orange County led deputies to seize over a pound of meth and multiple baggies of crack, drugs that could easily circulate through nearby communities like Costa Mesa.
