Apple's Spending Spree: Company Drops Half-Billion On Bay Area Real Estate: Reports

The company spent more than $500 million in one week, according to reports.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Apple spent over a half-billion dollars in one week acquiring properties in Silicon Valley, according to reports.

On June 24, the company finalized its $166.9 million purchase of the 220,000-square-foot Cupertino Gateway complex on the 10200 block of North Tantau Avenue, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Two days later, documents were filed regarding Apple’s $350 million purchase of the 382,500-square-foot Mathilda Commons on the 600 block of North Mathilda Avenue in Sunnyvale, according to SiliconValley.com.

“The price appears to be the most paid for a property in Santa Clara County this year,” the website reported.

Both properties were previously leased by Apple, reports said.
