Balloon Clips Power Line, Prompts Outage To Santa Clara Residents
The mylar balloon short circuited the line early Monday, cutting off electricity to more than 2,000 Silicon Valley Power customers.
SANTA CLARA, CA -- Power has been restored to thousands of customers in Santa Clara after a mylar balloon short-circuited a power line early Monday morning.
The balloon caused a wire to burn and fall at Karen and Maryann drives at about 5 a.m., cutting off power to 2,722 customers of Santa Clara's electricity provider, Silicon Valley Power.
