In-Person Visits Resume At SMC Jail After Repairs Made To Elevator

There was a mechanical issue with the only visitation elevator at the jail.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office announced that in-person visitation at the Maguire Correctional Facility will resume on Friday following the repair of the facility’s sole visitation elevator.

"Over the last several months, we have been working diligently with maintenance contractors to restore service to the visitation elevator," said Sheriff Ken Binder. "We recognize the importance of in-person visits and are thankful incarcerated persons at the Maguire Correctional Facility will once again have the opportunity to connect with their family and loved ones in-person."

In-person visitation at the Maguire Correctional Facility was suspended because the facility's single, 30-year-old visitation elevator has a mechanical failure.
