Bay to Breakers: See Where Cupertino Runners Placed

Among the too-many great things going on over the weekend was the annual Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco.

The 101-year-old race, which is known for its abundance of clever costumes and embrace of all-comers, nonetheless has a serious side. Sammy Kitwara of Kenya won the overall race with a time of 00:34:41, and a pace of 4:39. Mamitu Daska of Ethiopia won the female division with a time of 00:39:03, and a pace of 5:15.

Placing in the top 200 of their respective divisions were the following Cupertino residents:

  • Kirsten Do of Cupertino ranked 7th of 508 in the female 13-19 division with a time of 00:59:13, and a pace of 7:57.
  • Michelle Chang of Cupertino ranked 17th of 2,747 in the female 20-29 division with a time of 00:53:00, and a pace of 7:07.
  • Grace Nadolny of Cupertino ranked 142nd of 4,970 in the female 50-59 division with a time of 1:06:10, and a pace of 8:53.
  • Supriya Madan of Cupertino ranked 188th of 3,442 in the female 30-39 division with a time of 1:06:12, and a pace of 8:53.
  • Matthieu Paquet of Cupertino ranked 81st of 2,101 in the male 20-29 division with a time of 00:49:35, and a pace of 6:39.
