Commuting Problems Cleared On Hwy 101, SR-85
Vehicle fire, crashes, obstructions and residual delays rounded out issues for South Bay drivers Friday morning but have since cleared.
CUPERTINO, CA -- U.S. Highway 101 has turned out to be a problem route for Friday morning commuters.
For starters, a vehicle fire on the southbound side north of Bowers Avenue in Santa Clara in blocking the second lane from the left, the California Highway Patrol reported as of 8:48 a.m. Motorists are instructed to expect delays.
More delays are also being reported on the highway's southbound side at the turnoff to State Route 237 headed east, as the right shoulder is blocked. Further, an obstruction blocking the center lanes is found on that eastbound side west of the Lawrence Expressway in Sunnyvale.

On the perimeters of the problem area from San Jose to Mountain View, another obstruction in the latter was announced by the CHP south of the highway on southbound State Route 85, blocking the right shoulder.
A crash with injuries has added to the fray south of the 101 on the northbound side of Interstate 880 in San Jose, blocking the left lane.

Another crash has been reported farther south on SR-85's northbound side north of Saratoga Avenue, blocking the right lane. And yet an additional crash can be seen on 85 heading in the same direction north of South Winchester Boulevard in Los Gatos. That collision is blocking the right lane.
