Cupertino Hires New Public Works Director

Matt Morley, currently the Parks and Public Works Director in Los Gatos, will start April 4.

CUPERTINO, CA — Matt Morley, the current director of Parks and Public Works for the Town of Los Gatos, will serve as Director of Public Works for the City of Cupertino, the city announced last week. Morley will start April 4.

Morley has served as the Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Director since 2013, according to a city news release. In that role, Morley managed all operations and capital programs for the town, including facilities and fleet maintenance, park and street maintenance, capital project programming and delivery, and real estate transactions and planning.

Before that, Morley worked for the City of San Jose in a variety of management positions, including Fleet Manager and Director of Fleet and Facilities. He holds a bachelors from UC Davis and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

“I am excited to join the exceptional leadership team in Cupertino and to help expand on the amazing work that the Public Works Department provides for the residents of the community,” Morley said in a statement. “Cupertino is known in the Bay Area as a high-performing city, and it is an honor to participate collaboratively with the City Council, residents, and City staff in delivering our services.”

“We are delighted to welcome Matt to the City of Cupertino,” said City Manager Jim Throop. “I feel confident that our community will benefit from a seasoned Public Works Director such as Matt.”
