Over 10,000 in Bay Area Without Power Due to Storms
PG&E says that more than 10,000 people were without power Tuesday, Feb. 7 due to weather; the utility says its working to fix the problems.

BAY AREA, CA --Over 10,000 people in the Bay Area were without power as of mid-day on Tuesday, Feb. 7 thanks to the ongoing regional storms, Pacific Gas & Electric has said.
The utility says it has crews working to repair storm-related outages in the region.
As of shortly before 11 a.m., PG&E was reporting 5,566 customers without power in the North Bay, 1,306 on the Peninsula, 1,884 in the East Bay, 1,700 in the South Bay and just 196 in San Francisco, utility spokeswoman Andrea Menniti said.

The number, while high, shows improvement from reports around 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, when more than 18,000 customers were suffering outages in the region, including 9,664 in Santa Rosa and 7,125 in Vacaville.
"We have extra crews on alert and they've been responding to outages as soon as they occur," Menniti told Bay City News.

Residents are being reminded that if they see downed power lines, they should assume they are live and call 911 to report them immediately.
