• Office of Traffic Safety awards $184,000 grant to the City of Cupertino for Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety program (publicceo.com) — Cupertino has secured a $184,000 state traffic safety grant to expand bicycle and pedestrian education for local students through September 2026. The funding will bolster Safe Routes to School efforts, adding more classroom lessons, bike skills courses, and community walks and rides to help kids travel more safely around town.

• Drowning, leading cause of death for autistic children; YMCA hopes to expand a water safety program (record-bee.com) — A San Jose father’s near-tragedy at Cupertino’s Stevens Creek Dam pushed the YMCA of Silicon Valley to create and now expand a free Safety Around Water program tailored for neurodiverse kids. The Southwest and South Valley YMCAs hope to raise $50,000 through Wish Book to fund specialized instructors, adaptive equipment, and outreach so more autistic and neurodiverse children can safely enjoy local pools and waterways.
