Samsung Employees Volunteer at Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara for 'Day of Service'

More than 4,000 employees donated approximately 61,000 hours of service to more than 50 organizations nationwide.

Employees from Samsung Electronics America’s local Research and Development center volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara, sorting 13,600 pounds of produce to distribute to those in need during the company’s fourth semiannual Day of Service on Friday, May 13.

During Day of Service, Samsung offices across the country – from New Jersey to California – close and employees spend time supporting local and national charities and organizations. On this Day of Service, more than 4,000 Samsung employees donated approximately 16,000 hours of service to more than 50 organizations nationwide.

Since the first Samsung Day of Service in October 2014, employees have donated a total of more than 45,000 hours of service to 65 organizations nationwide. In addition to volunteer time, Samsung donated $1,000 to Second Harvest to support the nonprofit organization’s efforts.

Since 1974, the food bank has made it its mission to end hunger in the local community, and it provides groceries to approximately 250,000 people every month.
