The body cameras project is a collaborative effort among many Santa Clara County County stakeholders, including the Sheriff's Office, Board of Supervisors, County Counsel, local city councils, various community groups, and employee labor unions. All helped shape the final body camera policy, according to the Sheriff's Office.

About 1,200 deputies will be equipped with uniform cameras, officials said.
