Santa Clara Library Celebrates 5 Years
The Silicon Valley library marks the special occasion with events like a puppet show on Aug. 10 and expanding hours starting the next day.
SANTA CLARA, CA — Santa Clara City Library’s Northside Branch is celebrating its fifth anniversary next month by expanding its operational hours from 50 to 58 hours each week.
The library celebration is scheduled on Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Beginning Aug. 11, the library branch located at 695 Moreland Way will be open for the first time on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Management will also open it one hour earlier and one later on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Since the Northside Branch Library opened on Aug. 9, 2014, it has been buzzing with activity,” said Hilary Keith, city librarian. “We are excited to continue expanding services by offering an additional eight hours weekly for community members to use their library.”
To commemorate the Northside Branch Library’s five-year anniversary and extended hours, the library will host a celebration onsite that will include the following schedule of events:

- 10:00-10:15 a.m. – Welcome and Recognition of 5-Year Anniversary
- 10:15-11 a.m. – Puppet Arts Theater presents "The Three Little Pigs Puppet Show"
- 11 a.m.-12 p.m. – Bay Area Hula Show
- 12:15-1 p.m. – "The Bubble Lady"

Following the anniversary celebration, the Santa Clara City Library Foundation and Friends will host its popular $1 book sale in front of the Northside Branch Library on Aug. 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event offers a wide array of books for sale for all ages.
The Northside Branch Library is part of the Santa Clara City Library system and located in Rivermark Village. The 17,355-square-foot branch averages 23,416 visitors, 22,931 checkouts and 35 programs a month. The Santa Clara City Library is made up of three neighborhood libraries and a bookmobile.
