Freeway Shooting Result of Fast Food Scuffle, Police Say

Santa Clara Police are releasing few details tied to a shooting on and subsequent closing of the Lawrence Expressway early this morning.

SANTA CLARA, CA -- When a shooting shortly after midnight led to the freeway closure of the Lawrence Expressway until the commute hours, it was the result of a scuffle at a fast food restaurant, Santa Clara Police announced Tuesday afternoon.

The two men encountered each other at a nearby fast food restaurant before the victim began traveling northbound on the Expressway and realized the suspect was firing at him in the area near Cabrillo Avenue. The victim lost control of his vehicle and careened into the median before coming to a stop. He fled the area on foot. The suspect left the scene in his vehicle.

Their identities are undisclosed as police continue to investigate, Capt. Wahid Kazem told Patch.com.
